Up North Runway is delighted to announce an exclusive design contract for the creation of five original wedding gowns, to be commissioned in January 2026 and brought to production by June 2026.

What We’re Looking For
Our client is seeking five distinct bridal gown designs that reflect elegance, craftsmanship, and individuality. These gowns will be professionally produced and made available to discerning clients who value artistry, fit, and timeless design.
We’re inviting emerging designers, particularly final-year fashion students and recent graduates, to apply. You may be early in your career, but your creative voice is what matters — this is your chance to demonstrate what the next generation of British bridal fashion can achieve.
The ideal designer will:
- Have a strong creative vision and a portfolio that shows design flair and attention to detail.
- Understand construction techniques, fit, and fabric selection appropriate for luxury bridalwear.
- Be able to work collaboratively with production teams to translate sketches into reality.
- Show sensitivity to body inclusivity, movement, and comfort, ensuring each gown feels as good as it looks.
- Be open to feedback and able to meet professional deadlines — the designs must be finalised by End of March 2026 and ready for production shortly thereafter.
About the Contract
This is a professional design commission. The selected designer will be contracted to:
- Provide technical sketches, fabric recommendations, and finishing details.
- Create five unique wedding dress designs, each conceptually different but cohesive as a collection.
- Work with the client and production team to refine the final specifications.
- Deliver the finalised designs and technical packs in line with the agreed schedule.
- Produce one of the gowns.
A contract fee will be offered, and designers will receive full design credit on all finished gowns, photography, and associated marketing materials. This is an incredible opportunity to have your name professionally attached to a produced bridal collection — a major step for any emerging designer’s portfolio. Cost of materials and trim will be covered by the client.

- Use of as many UK suppliers as possible showing research of the market, to limit climate damage.
- Use as many Northern suppliers as possible to reflect the Northern roots of the client and UNR.

Photography and PR opportunities will follow upon production, and the designer will be invited to participate in press interviews, runway appearances, and digital showcases to celebrate the launch of the finished gowns.
